Medical Director — Acute Rehabilitation

Central Maine Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Medical Director — Acute Rehabilitation to lead our inpatient rehabilitation program in Lewiston, Maine.

Position Details

• Leadership role overseeing the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU)
• Blend of clinical and administrative opportunities
• On-site clinical coverage ~3 weeks/month with 1 week for administrative leadership
• Provide patient care including admissions, continued stays, and discharge planning
• Lead interdisciplinary team conferences and care coordination
• Drive program growth, quality initiatives, and operational performance

Responsibilities

• Oversee clinical operations and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care
• Develop and implement clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and regulatory standards
• Monitor key metrics including LOS, outcomes, and readmissions
• Collaborate with hospital leadership and supervise rehab providers

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified in PM&R preferred
• Eligible for Maine medical licensure
• 3-5 years of inpatient rehabilitation experience
• Prior leadership experience preferred
