Job Title: Supervisor, Buyer/Planner

Department: Supply Chain Management (SCM)
Reports To: SCM Manager
Shift: 1st Shift | Start Time: 7:30 AM

Role Overview

Leads material planning and purchasing operations to ensure efficient supply chain performance and achievement of key KPIs. Oversees daily SCM activities, drives process improvements, and ensures smooth material flow while maintaining quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Supervise daily SCM operations and team performance
  • Develop and implement procurement and inventory strategies
  • Train, mentor, and develop team members

Supply Chain & Planning

  • Manage MRP/ERP systems for demand forecasting and production planning
  • Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules
  • Identify and resolve supply chain bottlenecks

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Negotiate supplier contracts (pricing, delivery, quality)
  • Monitor supplier performance and mitigate risks
  • Identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams
  • Ensure material specifications and operational requirements are met
  • Enforce SCM policies and procedures

Functional Oversight

Buyer Functions

  • Oversee purchasing and supplier relationships
  • Manage inventory levels and material availability
  • Assess and mitigate supply chain risks
  • Support product lifecycle material planning

Planner Functions

  • Lead materials requirements planning (MRP) and forecasting
  • Ensure ERP systems effectively support resource planning
  • Drive advanced planning activities, including product launches and process reviews

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (preferred)
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred

  • Knowledge of production operations, quality systems, and LEAN principles

Technical Skills
