Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manual Gantry Mill Machinist to join our team. You will operate large-format manual gantry and bed mills, managing heavy-part setup, complex precision milling, and manual control of oversized components with exacting tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate large manual gantry milling machines for heavy structural components, weldments, and large castings
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications
  • Maintain tight manual tolerances (±0.001") on oversized workpieces
  • Operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment to safely position and load components
  • Perform in-process and final quality inspections using precision measuring tools
  • Optimize speeds and feeds for large-part machining
  • Design and implement custom fixturing solutions
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and troubleshoot manual feed and spindle systems

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience operating gantry or large-format mills
  • Proficiency with heavy structural components, weldments, and large castings
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
  • Expertise with precision measuring tools (micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, depth gauges)
  • Experience with overhead crane and rigging equipment operation
  • Knowledge of materials including structural steel, cast iron, and aluminum tooling plate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in machining or precision measurement
  • Experience with specific machine brands or control systems
  • Familiarity with laser alignment tools and advanced measurement techniques
  • Background in preventative maintenance and machine troubleshooting

Position Details

  • Type: Full-time
  • Compensation: $30–$33/hour
  • Schedule: Standard full-time hours
