CNC Boring Mill Machinist – Programmer
Position Overview
We have an opening for a CNC Machinist with programming expertise to machine custom components. This position is ideal for professionals with expertise in CNC Horizontal or Vertical Boring Mills who thrive on machining complex, one-off parts rather than repetitive production work. The successful candidate will have strong setup and machining experience with CNC mills and boring operations, combined with programming proficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC Horizontal or Vertical Boring Mills to precision specifications.
- Use precision machinery to perform milling and boring operations on large custom components with high accuracy and repeatability.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Determine tooling, workholding, and machine setups for large, custom components.
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam CAD/CAM software for boring and multi-axis milling operations.
- Make program edits and machine adjustments to improve efficiency, accuracy, and part quality.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and engineering specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to maintain productivity.
- Follow all safety and quality standards while meeting production deadlines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC Horizontal or Vertical Boring Mills.
- Capabilities: Ability to perform boring and multi-axis milling operations on custom, fabricated, and heavy components.
- Strong setup experience machining large, custom, or low-volume components.
- Required: Experience with G-code and/or M-code programming and interpretation for CNC machine control.
- Required: Strong proficiency with Mastercam CAD/CAM software, including creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs for boring and milling operations.
- Experience with CNC program troubleshooting, toolpath optimization, and setup verification.
- Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM OR 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Optional Saturday hours: 7:00 AM–12:00 PM
- Overtime paid at 1.5x the regular hourly rate
Compensation
- Pay: $30–$40 per hour, based on experience
