Senior / Lead Aerodynamics Engineer
Opportunity Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Lead Aerodynamics Engineer to apply advanced compressor aerodynamics expertise in a dynamic, cross-functional environment. This role offers significant ownership in the development, analysis, and production support of cutting-edge commercial and military gas turbine engines. You will collaborate across all aspects of the product lifecycle, from conceptual design to in-service support.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the aerodynamic design, analysis, and validation of turbomachinery flow path components.

Collaborate with in-house manufacturing teams to ensure design producibility and support cost reduction initiatives.

Plan, execute, and document component, stage, and engine system-level tests, including performance and surge/stall characterization.

Provide timely aerodynamic dispositions for production hardware discrepancies and engineering change requests.

Mentor and develop early-career aerodynamics engineers.

Develop and implement advanced analytical tools, methods, and best practices to enhance design accuracy and efficiency.

Effectively communicate technical findings, analyses, and recommendations to internal teams and external customers through presentations and written reports.
Qualifications:

Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with relevant compression design experience in gas turbines or industrial compressors:

Bachelors degree and 7+ years of experience, OR
-
Masters degree and 5+ years of experience, OR
-
PhD and 3+ years of experience.

Demonstrated expertise in aerodynamic principles of compression systems.

Proficiency with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software (e.g., Fluent, Fine/Turbo) and associated geometry generation/meshing tools (e.g., Turbogrid, AutoBlade, AXCENT, Pointwise).

Experience with design optimization methods and software (e.g., iSight, HEEDS, modeFrontier).

Familiarity with manufacturing methods, structural dynamics, and practical design limitations.

Proven experience across the full product life cycle: conceptual design, detailed analysis, testing, and production support.

Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills, with a strong focus on documentation and knowledge retention.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects concurrently, and meet deadlines.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance. Candidates may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
