District Sales Manager – Pacific Northwest

Location: Remote, based in Portland, OR; Tacoma, WA; or Northern California
Employment Type: Full-time, Individual Contributor
Travel: Approximately 75% within the territory, including about two overnight stays per week

About the Role

We're hiring a District Sales Manager to grow business across the Pacific Northwest for a global manufacturer of fastening systems used in commercial construction. You'll manage key accounts, win new ones, and serve as the trusted technical resource for contractors, distributors, and project teams.

You don't need a book of business. You need to learn the product quickly and build strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build lasting relationships with existing customers and develop new accounts
  • Track active projects and convert competitive opportunities into wins
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and agreements
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, presentations, and industry events
  • Provide technical guidance and product training to customers
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver a smooth customer experience from bid to completion
  • Maintain accurate customer and opportunity records in the CRM
  • Complete company training to stay current on products and industry trends

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years of outside sales or business development experience
  • Working knowledge of commercial construction processes, including schedules, meetings, and contracts
  • Understanding of channel sales and distributor pricing models
  • Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently across a large territory with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Current residence within the region (no relocation offered)

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, business, or a related field (experience can substitute)
  • 3–5+ years of sales in building envelope, rainscreen/façade, roofing, or wall construction
  • 3–5+ years of field sales with contractors, distributors, or independent sales organizations
  • Established contacts among contractors, general contractors, OEMs, or prefab builders in wall or roofing markets
  • Technical credibility in construction meetings and a track record of resolving conflicts with win-win outcomes

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $80,000–$100,000, depending on experience
  • Commission:  Uncapped, so top performers can significantly increase their total earnings
  • Vehicle: Company car and fuel card, or an $850 stipend in lieu
