About the job Head of General Accounting & Taxation
The Head of General Accounting & Taxation is responsible for supervising, directing, and driving the overall operations of the Finance Department with the objective of ensuring compliance to statutory and regulatory requirements, adoption of applicable accounting standards, preparation of complete and accurate financial, regulatory and management reports, review and updating of financial policies, review and implementation of systems and processes, and other ad hoc activities as required.
This role will be supporting the Head of Finance to liaise between finance functions across the business units, on all finance, accounting, tax and statutory matters providing support on the strategic and annual planning processes, as well as other initiatives that align with company overall strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing and overseeing timely and accurate month end closing process, reporting and variance analysis.
- Ensure proper revenue and expense recognition.
- Ensure proper asset capitalization and amortization.
- Ensure all Statutory report, Audit and Tax requirements are properly met, addressed on time and compliant.
- Draft, modify and implement accounting and control policies.
- Monitor cash settlement and related taxation matters and report on irregularities.
- Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis team, budget owners and other teams to provide support on the company strategic planning process.
- Support Finance team in developing and managing cost-center and platform level P&L, analytics of capital and OPEX expenditure and budget utilization.
- Manage finance and accounting matters, the preparation of annual audited accounts and coordination with Tax, Legal, Compliance on any such matters.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of company financial books, records and reports, implementation of proper internal controls and any tool / financial database to support management of financial view.
- Support Head of Controllership to hold regular finance governance meetings with BUs, resolve and tackle any BUs statutory and compliance requirement relating to strategy and provide any external audit relating support to BUs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accountancy, CPA- Required and with Life Insurance Industry experience.
- At least 5 years relevant experience in General, Audit & Tax Accounting (Managerial experience)
- At least with 3 years in working experience relevant to Life insurance, banking, or audit industry and with proven track record in leading a finance team.
- With SAP / Oracle user experience is an advantage.
- With excellent knowledge of accounting ERP for systems implementations is an advantage.
- With good working knowledge of various accounting principles, local GAAPs, and IFRS 4, 17, 9 and 15 and practices in the insurance industry- Required.
