The Valuation & Experience Studies Lead manages the actuarial valuation function and performs actuarial reporting and analytical tasks while working closely with other functional units to help management ensure the company's financial well-being and provide support in the achievement of business targets.

Responsibilities:

Valuation and Research

  • Prepares valuation results and summary of insurance provisions for recording in financial statements, in a timely, accurate, complete and consistent manner. Manage accountabilities and recoverable on reinsurance ceded on the company's business.
  • Prepares profitability analyses on new as well as in-force business. Apply the AIFRS framework for analysis of profit and crediting rate study.
  • Works on forecasting to help management in the setting of the company's various KPI targets. The work includes coordination with different departments and distribution channels as well
    as working with the Group.
  • Adequately captures elements of total company modeling both inside or outside of CAMP (Centralized Actuarial Modeling Platform) to produce company financial projections.
  • Prepares periodic summaries and analyses of results on financial reports and presents such with explanations around drivers of business results.
  • Analyzes the performance of the company versus competitors performance and collect appropriate and relevant data to update existing strategies or propose new plans based on sound information to help the company improve performance and achieve set targets.
  • Provides actuarial support to various units and committees of the company (e.g., Pricing Committee, Investment Committee and others)
  • Works closely with the reinsurers in the management of treaties and facultative reinsurance.
  • Leads junior members of actuarial analysts.

Product Pricing:

  • Provides product projections, forecasts and analysis to assist the Product Development Division make decisions regarding the product development strategy.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact during the product pricing phase.
  • Engages in the development and pricing of group prototype plans.
  • Conducts benchmarking and product comparison activities to analyze product competitiveness.
  • Collaborates with various teams across the organization including Actuarial, Operations, Sales and other committees to ensure that all the pricing variables are captured and properly modeled.
  • Conducts pricing validation, viability, and profit testing for proposed products and product improvements.
  • Prepares and maintains pricing models.
  • Manages regulatory submission and liaise with the Insurance Commission on new product approvals and improvements.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree holder in BS Mathematics, Statistics and other relevant courses
  2. At least 5 years experience in life insurance or similar experience with key focus on Actuarial Valuation
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  5. Proficiency in Prophet is a plus
