About the job MY-ICD Programs Coordinator
Position Summary
The MY-ICD Programs Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing engaging programs that support the spiritual, educational, and social development of youth at the Islamic Center of Detroit. The role focuses on creating safe, inclusive, and meaningful experiences that strengthen youth identity, leadership, and connection to the masjid and the broader Muslim community.
The coordinator works closely with youth leaders, volunteers, parents, and masjid leadership to ensure programs align with Islamic values and the mission of the Islamic Center of Detroit.
Key Responsibilities
Youth Program Development

Plan, organize, and implement youth programs for different age groups (elementary, middle school, high school, and young adults).

Develop educational, recreational, and leadership programs that strengthen Islamic identity and character.

Coordinate youth halaqas, workshops, camps, service projects, and community events.
- Ensure programs are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with Islamic principles.
Event Coordination

Organize youth events such as:

Youth nights
-
Ramadan and Eid programs

Educational seminars

Social and recreational activities

Manage event logistics including scheduling, materials, and volunteers.
Youth Engagement & Mentorship

Build strong relationships with youth participants.

Encourage youth leadership and volunteerism within the community.
- Provide mentorship and guidance while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Volunteer Management

Recruit, train, and supervise youth volunteers and mentors.

Schedule volunteers for programs and events.

Maintain communication and coordination with volunteer teams.
Parent & Community Communication
- Communicate with parents regarding youth activities, schedules, and expectations.
- Work collaboratively with other masjid departments and community organizations.

Promote programs through social media, flyers, and announcements.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure youth programs follow safety guidelines and child protection policies.

Maintain attendance records and required documentation.

Ensure proper supervision of youth during all programs and events.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in Management, Business Management, Youth Development
Experience
- 2+ years of experience working with youth in a community, nonprofit, school, or masjid setting.

Experience organizing programs, events, or youth activities.
