Backup Administrator

A Backup Administrator ensures data is securely backed up and can be restored, managing backup systems, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining reliable data protection across servers and storage.

Technical Skills:

• Veritas NetBackup: Master Server, Media Server, Data Domain (DD9300, DD9400, DD6900), NBU Media Appliance
• Tape Library: TS4300
• Azure Recovery Services Vaults: Azure Portal
• SAN Switches: IBM 48-Port & 24-Port Switches

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and support Veritas NetBackup, Data Domain, Azure Recovery services, and SAN switches.
• Administer backup environments across Unix, Linux, and Windows servers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve backup, tape, and storage issues.
• Build and deploy backup infrastructure and repositories.
• Ensure backup service reliability and simplicity for customers.
• Handle critical backup infrastructure issues and work with vendors for service level maintenance.
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide peer support and coaching.
• Produce operational reports and manage backup systems at scale.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Veritas NetBackup 10.X.X, Data Domain, and Azure Recovery Services Vaults.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage complex technical issues.
• Knowledge of backup products (command line and GUI).
• Familiarity with change management and incident management processes.
• Client engagement and report development experience.
