About the job Trustees 2024
THE ROLE OF A TRUSTEE
We are now seeking to recruit trustees with skills and experience in:
Digital
Volunteering
Business Development with finance experience
to work with us to
transform our work to reach more people
have greater impact, communicate our best practice approach
build a strong and sustainable income base.
In your role as a trustee board member, you will collectively make decisions on the strategic direction of the charity.
- All trustees should be able to articulate the charity's purposes and accept that they are jointly responsible for achieving those purposes.
- In managing and monitoring organisational performance, the trustee board will ensure that operational plans and budgets are in line with the charity's purposes, strategic aims and resources.
- Trustees must also identify and assess risks and opportunities for the organisation and decide how best to deal with them, including whether they are manageable or worth taking.
Trustees are encouraged to be ambassadors for the charity.
TIME COMMITMENT
All trustees must give sufficient time to the charity to carry out their responsibilities effectively. This includes preparing for meetings and being prepared to participate actively in meetings through discussion, appropriate challenge and seeking clarity if necessary. While all may not be able to give time in equal measure, all continue to share individual and co-equal Board responsibility.
Following a governance review we anticipate that the trustee board will meet 4 times a year and there may be additional board meetings for specific purposes such as strategic planning, governance or other ad hoc business.
Sub committees will each meet approximately one month before board meetings. In order to accommodate trustees other commitments, these may be held online from time to time.
FURTHER INORMATION
The term of office for trustees will be 3 years which may be extended at the invitation of the Board.
This is a voluntary unpaid role. Out of pocket reasonable expenses will be covered.
