Boise, Idaho

Compensation Range: $46.72–$50.62/hour
Clinical Leadership Opportunity

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) Team Leader to join a highly respected inpatient rehabilitation program in Boise, Idaho.

This position is ideal for an experienced Occupational Therapist who is ready to advance into leadership while remaining actively involved in direct patient care. The Therapy Team Leader combines hands-on clinical practice with staff supervision, mentoring, scheduling, performance management, and quality improvement.

We're looking for an OT who enjoys treating patients but is also passionate about developing other therapists, improving clinical outcomes, and helping lead a collaborative rehabilitation team.

Position Overview

The Occupational Therapy Team Leader serves as both a practicing clinician and a frontline therapy leader.

In this role, you will provide patient evaluations and skilled Occupational Therapy treatment while helping oversee the day-to-day activities of therapists, therapy assistants, and technicians.

Working closely with rehabilitation leadership, you'll help coordinate staffing and schedules, support employee development, maintain clinical standards, and ensure patients receive high-quality, individualized rehabilitation services.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned OT who wants to build formal leadership experience without stepping completely away from patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Monitor patient progress and response to treatment.
  • Modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment goals, techniques, safety, and continued recovery.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Promote patient independence and achievement of meaningful functional outcomes.

Team Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and support for therapists, therapy assistants, and technicians.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to members of the therapy team.
  • Help coordinate daily assignments, staffing, and schedules.
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration among rehabilitation team members.
  • Support employee onboarding, orientation, training, and professional development.
  • Assist with performance management and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Help identify opportunities for staff development and clinical education.
  • Encourage accountability while maintaining a positive, supportive work environment.
  • Serve as a resource for clinical questions and complex patient situations.

Department Operations

  • Coordinate team responsibilities, schedules, documentation, training, and other operational requirements.
  • Assist leadership with maintaining appropriate staffing and workflow.
  • Help ensure department goals, productivity expectations, and clinical objectives are achieved.
  • Identify operational barriers and work collaboratively to develop practical solutions.

  • Encourage adherence to regulatory requirements, professional standards, and organizational policies.
  • Support a culture centered on clinical excellence, teamwork, accountability, and patient-centered care.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Occupational Therapist license in the applicable state required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Occupational Therapy experience required.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous leadership, Lead Therapist, Senior Therapist, or supervisory experience.
  • Inpatient rehabilitation experience.
  • Acute rehabilitation or hospital-based therapy experience.
  • Specialty professional certification.
  • Participation in a clinical advancement or therapy clinical ladder program, when eligible.
  • Experience mentoring or training therapists and therapy assistants.

Ideal Candidate

  • Remain actively involved in patient care while successfully managing leadership responsibilities.
  • Mentor and develop therapists and support staff.
  • Provide guidance during complex clinical situations.
  • Coordinate staffing, schedules, and daily workflow.

Experienced Senior Occupational Therapists, Lead OTs, or seasoned clinicians who have served as mentors or informal team leaders may find this an excellent opportunity to transition into a more formal leadership role.
