  • Ensure all inbound/outbound freight is:
    • Compliant with Chain of Responsibility including appropriate load restraint.
    • Blended effectively to maximize individual load revenue.
    • Checked on truck against paperwork to ensure it matches.
    • Compliant with legislative requirements with regard to load mass.
  • Maintain optimum communication with the Fleet Controller and/or Operations Manager regarding client feedback.
  • Liaise with the Fleet Controller as to what way and in what order deliveries and pickups are to be undertaken.
  • Maintain radio or telephone contact with the Fleet Controller or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to the new location.
  • Ensure that all pick-ups must be accompanied by a consignment note and Check-Weigh-Cubed (CWC).
  • Contact the Fleet Controller/Supervisor for instructions when freight is presented without a Connote.
  • Inform the Fleet Controller of your destination and last drop, radioing in from your clear points prior to returning.
  • Attend depot meetings when required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours.
  • Assist in the safe and efficient loading and unloading of trucks, when required.
  • Maintain truck logs according to state, federal, and Northline regulations.
  • Complete the Driver Daily Run sheet completely and accurately each day, including recording freight/cargo information, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and other information.
  • Maintain fleet management schedules through cleaning, inspecting, and servicing vehicles as required by Northline
  • Oversee all functions of vehicles, such as condition of equipment, loading and unloading, and safety and security of freight.
  • Ensure special permits and other documents required are held when transporting cargo on national routes.
  • Where in accepted quantities or where licensed, transport hazardous products or dangerous goods.
  • Drive as part of a team convoy where required.
  • Drive special-purpose trucks when required.
  • Ensure all incidents of personal injury, damages, shortages, split consignments, etc. are reported to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Any other reasonable tasks or projects as requested by your manager.
