- Ensure all inbound/outbound freight is:
- Compliant with Chain of Responsibility including appropriate load restraint.
- Blended effectively to maximize individual load revenue.
- Checked on truck against paperwork to ensure it matches.
- Compliant with legislative requirements with regard to load mass.
- Maintain optimum communication with the Fleet Controller and/or Operations Manager regarding client feedback.
- Liaise with the Fleet Controller as to what way and in what order deliveries and pickups are to be undertaken.
- Maintain radio or telephone contact with the Fleet Controller or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to the new location.
- Ensure that all pick-ups must be accompanied by a consignment note and Check-Weigh-Cubed (CWC).
- Contact the Fleet Controller/Supervisor for instructions when freight is presented without a Connote.
- Inform the Fleet Controller of your destination and last drop, radioing in from your clear points prior to returning.
- Attend depot meetings when required.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working hours.
- Assist in the safe and efficient loading and unloading of trucks, when required.
- Maintain truck logs according to state, federal, and Northline regulations.
- Complete the Driver Daily Run sheet completely and accurately each day, including recording freight/cargo information, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and other information.
- Maintain fleet management schedules through cleaning, inspecting, and servicing vehicles as required by Northline
- Oversee all functions of vehicles, such as condition of equipment, loading and unloading, and safety and security of freight.
- Ensure special permits and other documents required are held when transporting cargo on national routes.
- Where in accepted quantities or where licensed, transport hazardous products or dangerous goods.
- Drive as part of a team convoy where required.
- Drive special-purpose trucks when required.
- Ensure all incidents of personal injury, damages, shortages, split consignments, etc. are reported to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Any other reasonable tasks or projects as requested by your manager.
