General Accounting Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and review the work of the AR and AP Officers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain the companys general ledger, ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded and categorized.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
  • Reconcile the general ledger and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls.
  • Ensure the company complies with local tax regulations and accounting standards.
  • Work with management to prepare the companys budget and monitor financial performance against it.
  • Provide forecasts and financial analyses to guide decision-making.
  • Lead efforts to prepare for audits and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Assist in tax preparation and filings, working closely with tax professionals ifnecessary.

General Accounting Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA license is not required, but a solid academic background in accounting principles is essential.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in general accounting, preferably in the construction industry or project-based environments.
  • Experience in managing general ledger accounts, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Assist in preparing reports for external stakeholders, such as auditors, banks, and government agencies.
  • Leadership skills to supervise AP and AR teams effectively.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar platforms).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and tax management.
