About the job Forklift Operator

  • Ensure pre-start check is undertaken before use of forklift and other equipment certifying the equipment is in good working order.
  • Operate forklifts and other machinery safely and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all inbound and/or outbound freight is:
    • Accurately scanned, matched, sorted, and placed safely into correct locations.
    • Checked, Weighed, and Cubed (CWC) to reduce revenue leakage.
    • Accounted for with accompanying paperwork in good order.
    • Unloaded and/or loaded safely with zero damage within set time limits.
    • Blended effectively to maximize load revenue.
  • Compliant with legislative requirements with regard to load mass.
  • Review consignment notes and provide feedback to Supervisors on quality/issues.
  • Match freight and connotes: no miss-sorted or miss-loaded freight.
  • Ensure all inbound units are completely cleaned and all pallets, load restraint equipment, and dunnage are recorded, removed, and placed in the appropriate locations.
  • Report all incidents of damage, shortages, split consignments, etc. to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Record dunnage as per procedure and ensure load restraint equipment is correctly allocated.
  • Ensure the yard is kept organized and tidy.
  • Work toward a target of zero near-miss incidents or accidents.
  • Build and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Contribute to shared goals and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Review processes and procedures and recommend and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Any other reasonable tasks or projects as requested by your manager.
