Freight Operations Supervisor – Freight Forwarding

Manpower Malta is seeking to recruit a Freight Operations Supervisor – Freight Forwarding to join our client's team.

Reporting to the COO, the selected candidate will lead the daily activities of the freight forwarding operations team. The role is responsible for ensuring that import and export shipments are managed efficiently across sea, air, and road freight services.

The Freight Operations Supervisor will provide guidance and support to team members, monitor shipment progress, resolve operational issues, and maintain high customer service standards. The successful candidate will also work closely with customers, carriers, customs brokers, transport providers, and overseas agents.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily freight operations and coordinate the workload, productivity, and performance of the operations team.
• Oversee import and export shipments by sea, air, and road, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
• Monitor shipment progress, resolve operational problems, and manage escalated customer enquiries.
• Liaise with customers, shipping lines, airlines, customs brokers, transport providers, and international agents.
• Coach and support team members while contributing to operational reporting, process improvements, and regulatory compliance.

Key Requirements:

• Previous experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations, together with supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of sea freight, air freight, road freight, import and export procedures, and customs documentation.
• Excellent organisational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office and freight forwarding or freight management systems.
• Valid driving licence and flexibility to work outside standard hours when urgent shipments require attention.

Knowledge of dangerous goods, Incoterms, customs clearance, and international shipping regulations will be considered an advantage. An IATA qualification or a diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business is preferred but not essential.
