Job Summary

Manpower is seeking to recruit a Legal Advisor to join our client's team.

As a Legal Advisor with a special focus on corporate, financial services, CSR, and capital markets. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with legal regulations, mitigate risks, and drive strategic initiatives. Responsibilities:

  • Provision of legal assistance and advice, and drafting memoranda and legal opinions to group companies and to company boards and committees, ensuring conformance with legal and statutory requirements.
  • Drafting / vetting of contracts / agreements as directed and conducting legal analysis and research on legal matters relevant to the Group.
  • Giving advice and opinions, drafting memoranda, developing strategy and championing corporate governance, CSR and ESG initiatives, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations and promoting the development of the Group in these areas.
  • Assisting and advising on company secretarial duties, financing and capital market transactions and in complying with the requirements of Group companies with the Listing Authority, MFSA, Registry of Companies and other regulatory/public entities.
  • Assisting in devising systems and handling the organisation and maintenance of advice, contracts and searches databases, legal files, licenses, and the management of legal documents.
  • Proactively guiding the various Group operations to ensure conformance with relevant laws and regulations affecting the business, with special focus on compliance with extant laws.
  • Carrying out reviews of operational practices and identifying and evaluating the Groups activities and making recommendations.
  • Providing advice and recommendations to the relevant Group Companies about the interpretation or application of laws regulations and rules, having due consideration of any developments in the law.
  • Building excellent working relationships and liaising closely with a wide range of both external and internal contacts.
  • In general, assisting in and contributing towards the Group's legal function and carrying out such legal duties as directed by the Chief Legal Officer from time to time.
  • Performing any further duties as may be required by the company from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Law and warrant to practice. Masters's Degree in a relevant area will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Maltese languages.
  • Able to communicate in a courteous and professional manner with internal and external contacts, over different mediums, such as, over the phone, face-to-face, and electronic communication.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates commitment to integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
  • Previous experience in the use of Microsoft Office software.
