Manpower Malta is seeking to recruit a Purchasing Manager to join our client's team.

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all procurement activities supporting shipbuilding, ship repair, and refit projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, spare parts, equipment, and technical services while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Production, and Finance teams, the successful candidate will contribute to the efficient delivery of projects and the achievement of business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business and project requirements.
  • Manage the full purchasing cycle, including sourcing, supplier negotiations, purchase orders, and delivery follow-up.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers while monitoring performance, quality, cost, and delivery standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely procurement of technical materials, spare parts, equipment, and services.
  • Lead the procurement team, monitor KPIs, and identify cost-saving opportunities through effective supplier and contract management.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager, or in a similar senior procurement role.
  • Experience purchasing technical materials, spare parts, equipment, or industrial products.
  • Previous exposure to marine, shipyard, industrial, offshore, oil & gas, or construction environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, budgeting, and cost analysis skills.
  • Fluent in English and experienced in using ERP systems and procurement software.
