Compliance Officer – Drive Governance, Risk & Regulatory Excellence

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support internal compliance activities across client portfolios and operational teams.
  • Conduct Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), ongoing monitoring, and risk assessments.
  • Review onboarding documentation, ownership structures, and source of wealth information.
  • Support AML/CFT compliance programmes and regulatory monitoring activities.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assist with the implementation of compliance updates.
  • Maintain compliance registers, logs, and regulatory records.
  • Assist with transaction monitoring, investigations, and internal reporting processes.
  • Draft, review, and update policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
  • Perform compliance monitoring and internal control reviews across departments.
  • Support internal and external audit processes and remediation actions.
  • Participate in business and customer risk assessments.
  • Prepare regulatory submissions and compliance reports.
  • Deliver compliance awareness initiatives and training across the business.

Requirements

  • Degree, Diploma, Certification, or equivalent qualification in Compliance, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a compliance role within professional services, corporate services, legal, accounting, financial services, or another regulated environment.
  • Experience with AML/CFT compliance, due diligence, risk assessments, compliance monitoring, and regulatory reporting.
  • Knowledge of GDPR requirements and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, document management platforms, Microsoft 365, and cloud-based collaboration tools.
  • Understanding of the Maltese regulatory and corporate environment will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
