About the job Head of Department (Senior Partner)

On behalf of our client Manpower is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Department / Senior Partner to lead one of the largest multidisciplinary departments, comprising approximately 35 professionals including Archaeologists, Land Surveyors, and Health & Safety Officers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the department's strategic vision and long-term objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of approximately 35 professionals.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance working culture.
  • Provide leadership guidance and support to departmental managers and team leaders.
  • Maintain regular communication with team members to ensure alignment, engagement, and professional development.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and public sector stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for business growth, cross-functional collaboration, and service improvement.
  • Support resource planning, workforce development, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Monitor departmental performance and ensure strategic objectives are achieved.
  • Represent the department in meetings, industry events, and client engagements.
  • Contribute to company-wide leadership discussions and business planning activities.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, managing large teams and driving departmental performance.
  • Strong people management, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience developing and implementing departmental strategy and business objectives.
  • Strong commercial awareness with exposure to client-facing environments.
  • Ability to influence, engage, and lead teams through change and growth.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, surveying, archaeology, health & safety, or related sectors.
  • Proven track record managing multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Established network within Malta, particularly across government entities, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Malta's construction, planning, infrastructure, or public sector landscape.
  • Experience working in a consultancy or project-based environment
