About the job Group CEO
On behalf of our client, Manpower Malta is seeking to recruit a Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide strategic leadership and executive oversight across a diversified business group. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving long-term growth, sustainability, governance excellence, and organisational effectiveness while strengthening executive leadership capability across the Group.
Working closely with the Board of Directors, Executive Management Team, and business unit leadership teams, the successful candidate will ensure alignment across the organisation and support its continued evolution as a professionally managed enterprise.
The Group CEO will be responsible for the day-to-day executive leadership of the Group, ensuring the effective execution of Board-approved strategies while providing regular updates on performance, progress, risks, and emerging opportunities. The role will focus on portfolio leadership, value creation, organisational development, and governance, working primarily through leadership teams and governance structures while intervening directly when strategic priorities or significant challenges require executive oversight.
Success in this role will be measured through a balanced set of financial, strategic, operational, cultural, and governance outcomes, reflecting the CEO's ability to deliver sustainable growth, strengthen organisational capability, foster a high-performance culture, and create long-term value for shareholders and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Operate within the framework of authority delegated by the Board of Directors.
- Provide the Board with clear recommendations, analysis, implementation plans, and assessments of key risks and opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Board members, executive leaders, and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the ongoing development and enhancement of governance frameworks across the Group.
- Promote the highest standards of integrity, ethical conduct, transparency, and compliance.
Business Development & Growth
- Drive portfolio development and optimisation initiatives to support long-term growth objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue opportunities that enhance shareholder value and business sustainability.
- Lead growth initiatives through acquisitions, strategic partnerships, market expansion, and new business opportunities.
- Ensure business development activities remain aligned with the Group's strategic priorities and financial objectives.
Portfolio Management & Value Creation
- Oversee capital allocation decisions across the Group in line with agreed strategic priorities and governance frameworks.
- Lead and support major investment initiatives, acquisitions, disposals, and strategic partnerships.
- Monitor performance across business units and facilitate alignment between leadership teams, governance bodies, and support functions.
- Identify areas of underperformance and support strategic decisions regarding improvement, transformation, restructuring, or divestment.
- Balance growth ambitions with operational performance, risk management, and sustainable value creation.
Leadership, Culture & Organisational Development
- Lead and develop the executive leadership team, promoting collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
- Foster alignment across diverse business operations and leadership teams around a shared vision and strategic direction.
- Champion a culture that attracts, develops, and retains high-calibre talent.
- Promote organisational values through transparency, accountability, inclusion, and performance excellence.
- Drive initiatives that enhance organisational effectiveness, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
- Strengthen leadership capability, succession planning, and governance maturity across the organisation.
- Ensure robust succession plans are in place for key leadership positions to support business continuity and future growth.
Candidate Profile
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Law, or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification such as an MBA or equivalent will be considered an asset.
- Professional qualifications or memberships with recognised professional bodies relevant to the role will be advantageous.
Experience
- Significant executive leadership experience within a complex, multi-business organisation.
- Strong track record of overseeing financial performance, capital allocation, investments, and value creation initiatives.
- Experience working closely with Boards of Directors and navigating complex stakeholder environments.
- Demonstrated business development expertise, including growth initiatives, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and market expansion opportunities.
- Proven success in building, developing, and leading senior management teams.
- Experience operating within shareholder-led, family-owned, or privately held business environments would be considered advantageous.
