On behalf of our client, Manpower Malta is seeking to recruit a Head of Client Accounting.

Reporting directly to a member of the Board, the Head of Client Accounting will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Client Accounting function and will be accountable for the delivery of high-quality accounting and financial reporting services to a diverse client portfolio. This role combines departmental leadership, client relationship management, operational excellence, and continuous innovation.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Providing leadership and strategic direction to the Client Accounting team, ensuring alignment with the organisation's overall objectives
  • Overseeing the preparation, review, and timely delivery of financial statements, management accounts, and regulatory submissions for clients
  • Managing, mentoring, and developing team members, promoting a high-performance culture and continuous professional development
  • Reviewing and improving internal workflows and controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service quality
  • Driving automation and digital initiatives within the department, including the implementation of new systems and technologies
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a senior point of contact where required
  • Supporting business growth initiatives through client retention, cross-selling, and new service opportunities
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, AML requirements, and relevant regulatory obligations
  • Collaborating closely with internal teams such as Tax, Corporate Services, Fiduciary, and Compliance to provide integrated client solutions
  • Monitoring departmental financial performance, including billing and collection processes, and reporting key metrics to senior management

Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

  • ACCA qualification or an equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • A minimum of five years' experience in a senior or managerial role within a client accounting or professional services environment
  • Prior experience within a legal practice, corporate service provider, or regulated industry would be considered an advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent command of English; knowledge of Maltese is considered an asset
  • High proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within demanding deadlines
  • Well-developed leadership, people management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Sound working knowledge of Maltese income tax and VAT legislation
