Job Openings #42 - PSI DB to single instance (ARDA) (Onsite NY)

About the job #42 - PSI DB to single instance (ARDA) (Onsite NY)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to lead a critical database migration and application refactoring initiative at a leading global financial institution. The project involves transitioning the ARDA application from a shared PostgreSQL instance to a dedicated, single-tenant database environment — eliminating the performance, reliability, and governance risks that come with shared database architecture.

This is a hands-on technical role with high visibility. The selected consultant will work directly with the CTO to review the updated integration and deliver formal technical documentation. The profile we are looking for is a strong senior developer on a clear path toward a software architect role — someone who thinks beyond writing code and can design scalable, well-documented systems.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Refactor application code to migrate from a shared PostgreSQL instance to a dedicated database environment
  • Analyze current database architecture and design the target-state integration
  • Optimize PostgreSQL configuration, schemas, and queries for the dedicated instance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues across application and data layers
  • Produce and enhance application-level technical documentation
  • Review updated PSI DB integration and documentation directly with the CTO
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders throughout the migration lifecycle

Must-Haves

  • Strong senior-level full stack development experience, with emphasis on backend and data layers
  • Deep expertise in PostgreSQL — including architecture, schema design, query optimization, and database configuration (not just query writing)
  • Demonstrated experience refactoring applications to migrate from shared to dedicated database environments
  • Strong SQL skills, data modeling, and hands-on experience troubleshooting application-database integration issues
  • Experience with application modernization and system design
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and present findings to senior technical stakeholders
  • Based in or available to work on-site in New York City from day one

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in architect-track or system design roles
  • Background in financial services or regulated industry environments
  • Spanish language skills (desirable)
  • Familiarity with database migration tooling or ORM frameworks

Engagement Details

  • Start: ASAP
  • Duration: 6 months
  • Location: On-site, New York City
  • This is a engagement with a top-tier global financial institution
