About the job Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Specialist will assist in all financial accounting functions.  


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files
  • Reconcile accounts
  • Pay vendor invoices in a timely manner
  • Manage prepaid expense account
  • Process expense reimbursements
  • Assist in annual 1099 submissions
  • Calculate sales commissions
  • Prepare items for audits   


Key Skills:

  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and differences in five main account types (assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, expenses)
  • Use of QuickBooks or other accounting system
  • Exceptional time-management and ability to meet deadlines

 

General Experience:

  • Accounting degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in basic accounting processing (ex. payables, receivables, journal entries, accruals)
  • Comfort in and experience with the challenges of a start-up
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
