Roles and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the smooth running of the practice
  • Provide secretarial support to the doctors including appointment bookings, billing, typing and liaising with external medical providers and law firms
  • Accounts payable and receivable
  • Processing Medicare claims and liaising with health funds and Medicare
  • Competence in use of Microsoft
  • Using patient management system and other electronic interfaces
  • Managing telephones, voice mail system and email enquiries

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent people skills to relate well to patients and doctors
  • A minimum of three years' experience as a Medical Secretary working for a medical specialist is essential
  • Strong communication skills and a calm demeanour are essential
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Clear understanding of patient privacy and professional boundaries. Not discussing personal information with patients
  • A professional, articulate manner and attire
