Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for remedial, refurbishment, and building upgrade projects.

  • Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to identify materials, trades, and key construction details.

  • Conduct quantity take-offs and input data into estimating software and cost databases.

  • Obtain and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations; maintain quote registers and contact lists.

  • Support the Senior Estimator in developing trade breakdowns, cost schedules, and tender summaries.

  • Participate in tender review meetings, clarifications, and value engineering discussions.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure estimates reflect construction methods, sequencing, and site conditions.

  • Assist in maintaining and updating cost libraries, supplier databases, and estimating templates.

  • Contribute to post-tender reviews and continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Required Experience

  • 3 - 5 years of estimating experience for a commercial builder (minimum)
  • 1-3

    years of experience in estimating, contracts administration, or project support, preferably in remedial or refurbishment construction.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers in preparing tender submissions.
  • Exposure to quantity take-offs, trade breakdowns, and cost schedules.

  • Experience in the following scopes is highly advantageous:

    • Demolition works

    • Renovation works

    • Commercial glazing

    • Waterproofing

    • Internal fit-outs

    • Bathroom replacements

    • Concreting

    • Concrete block work

    • Landscaping

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building, or a related discipline (or currently pursuing).

  • Sound understanding of the Building Code of Australia, Australian Standards, and WHS practices.

A Successful Candidate Must Have

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good organisational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

  • A proactive and positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.

Proficient With

  • Microsoft Excel and estimating software (CostX preferred).

  • General office and communication tools (Microsoft Office Suite).

Experience Advantage

  • Background in remedial, refurbishment, or building upgrade projects.

  • Understanding of construction sequencing, methodologies, and value engineering.

  • Experience in maintaining cost databases and supplier libraries.
