We're a small, dynamic team in a fast-paced non-profit, connected to purpose and doing work that we love. We mainly work remotely but come together regularly in the office to brainstorm, ask tough questions and dream big. We're not hung up on titles and hierarchy - we work together because it makes us stronger, and lets face it, teamwork makes everything better. We work closely with our dedicated Board of Directors who are all practicing family physicians.

Your Role

As part of the team dedicated to physician compensation, you will develop, review, and analyze policy for physician compensation and primary care improvements. Your responsibilities will include:

Policy Analysis

  • Plan and manage policy development and review initiatives.
  • Analyze and evaluate policies from regulators, health system partners, and federal/provincial governments that may impact primary care, family medicine, and physician compensation.
  • Review research, best practices, and data to support policy development and decision-making.
  • Gather and analyze research, guidelines, standards, and policy about primary care and physician compensation.
  • Identify and analyse emerging healthcare system issues, legislative changes, and regulatory updates, such as Ministry of Health policy papers and College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC guidelines.

Physician Compensation Improvements

  • Conduct environmental scans to assess physician compensation practices and policies at provincial, national, and international levels.
  • Identify and prioritize areas for physician compensation improvements based on policy and practice changes in primary care.
  • Develop proposals for payment model improvements, with a focus on the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment Model and fee-for-service.
  • Present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders, including the Economics Committee, Board of Directors, and other audiences.
  • Develop physician education and communication related to compensation improvements.

What you Bring

  • A minimum of two to three years relevant experience in policy analysis, health administration, or a related field. Knowledge and/or experience in healthcare is an asset.
  • University degree in public policy, health policy, health administration, law, or related field with relevant policy analysis experience.
  • Exceptional written communication skills and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated proficiency in presenting complex information to a diverse audience, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a varied workload.
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a community of physicians and partner organizations.
  • Flexibility and agility to pivot quickly as issues arise.
  • Residing in the Lower Mainland is required for attendance at meetings, conferences, and events.

The Details

This is a two-year, full-time employee contract of 37.5 hour per week position based in Vancouver at $80,000 to $90,000 per annum. The role may be extended for a longer-term contract or a permanent position. We provide 4 weeks paid vacation, plus an excellent benefits package (dental, health, LTD). The anticipated start date is April/May 2025.

We pride ourselves on having flexible work schedules and an engaging, supportive team atmosphere. Ours is a hybrid work environment, mixing work from home time with occasional days in-office. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

You'll report to the Chief Medical Officer, and you'll also work closely with the Physician Compensation team. We'll provide you with the training and support you need to succeed in your portfolio.
