About the job Chartered Accountant and Tax Lawyer

Chartered Accountant and TAX Lawyer for Latvia

Company: M365Consult

Role Duration: Long-term project (min 12–24 months)

We are a fast-growing European startup specializing in Microsoft solutions. Our team is passionate about innovation, collaboration, and building a strong brand presence across digital platforms. We're looking for motivated individuals eager to learn and grow with us!

Are you a Chartered Accountant with a passion for meticulous financial management, including tax law expertise? M365Connect, your specialized IT consulting partner for Microsoft talents, is on the hunt for an exceptional, detail-oriented Accountant for a long-term engagement of several years!

In this role, you will be the linchpin of our financial activities, responsible for a wide array of duties ranging from daily bookkeeping to acting as a tax lawyer. Our accounting runs on two systems in parallel — QuickBooks and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central — and hands-on, day-to-day working proficiency in both is a strict, non-negotiable prerequisite for this role. Applications without demonstrated experience in both systems cannot be considered.

If you're eager to leverage your chartered accounting skills in a dynamic environment, explore the details of this exciting opportunity below:

Mandatory Requirements (strict — applications without these will not be reviewed)

- QuickBooks: proven, hands-on experience running day-to-day accounting in QuickBooks; QuickBooks certification (e.g. QuickBooks ProAdvisor) with verifiable proof.

- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central: proven, hands-on experience running day-to-day accounting and financial management in Business Central (General Ledger, AP/AR, bank reconciliation, VAT setup and posting groups, period-end closing, financial reporting). A Microsoft certification covering Dynamics 365 Business Central (e.g. MB-800: Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant) with verifiable proof is required.

- Both systems are equally weighted — experience in only one of the two does not qualify.

Responsibilities

- Manage Documents and Files in SharePoint File Directory. Create and maintain descriptions for each file.

- Handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.

- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

- Conduct thorough research on financial regulations, tax laws, and industry trends to ensure compliance and informed decision-making.

- Act as the sole point of contact for all financial activities, including tax-related matters.

- Manage communication between company stakeholders (owners) and financial institutions and authorities (EDS/SRS/UR.GOV.LV) in Latvia.

- Prepare legal documents ready to sign for stakeholders.

- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.

- Maintain organized and easily accessible financial records for audits or internal reviews.

- Manage both QuickBooks and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central efficiently to streamline accounting processes — including chart of accounts and posting group maintenance, VAT/tax configuration, bank reconciliation, period-end closing and reporting in each system, as well as keeping the data consistent between them.

- Identify and implement areas for process improvement, including automation and clean data flow between our accounting systems and the wider Microsoft 365 environment.

- Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and management, providing clear financial updates and advice.

Ideal Candidate

- Working proficiency in both QuickBooks and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (mandatory).

- You have an understanding of taxation, particularly in line with EU standards.

- Chartered Accountant with experience in handling all accounting and tax preparation tasks, including acting as a tax lawyer.

- Proficient in researching, including using search engines and AI tools like ChatGPT for gathering information.

- Skilled in managing accounts payable and receivable and reconciling bank statements.

- Detailed knowledge of and compliance with tax regulations.

- Ability to identify and implement improvements in financial processes and procedures.

- Excellent communication skills.

- Organized and detail-oriented.

Application Requirements

- Submit a proposal detailing your experience and your approach to the project.

- Provide links to past completed projects showcasing your expertise in accounting and tax preparation.

- Provide proof of both your QuickBooks certification and your Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central certification, and state for each system how long and in what capacity you have worked with it.

- Specify your availability and hourly rate for this long-term project.
