Technical Translator

M&D Mechanical Contractors is seeking a highly skilled Technical Translator to join our team in San Diego, CA. As a leading mechanical contracting company, we specialize in providing innovative solutions for commercial and industrial projects. We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual who is fluent in both English and a technical language (such as Spanish, German, or French) to help us communicate effectively with our clients and partners.

As a Technical Translator, you will be responsible for translating technical documents, manuals, and specifications from the source language to the target language. You will also be responsible for interpreting technical discussions, meetings, and presentations. This role requires a strong understanding of technical terminology and the ability to accurately convey complex information in both languages.

Key Responsibilities:

- Translate technical documents, manuals, and specifications from English to the target language and vice versa

- Interpret technical discussions, meetings, and presentations

- Ensure accuracy and consistency of technical terminology in all translations

- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and provide accurate translations

- Proofread and edit translated documents to ensure quality and accuracy

- Manage translation projects and meet deadlines

- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all translations

- Continuously improve and update technical vocabulary and knowledge in both languages

- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to ensure clear understanding of technical information

- Provide cultural and linguistic expertise to assist in project planning and decision making

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field

- Fluency in English and at least one technical language (Spanish, German, or French)

- Proven experience in technical translation, preferably in a mechanical or engineering field

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages

- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in translations

- Proficient in using translation software and tools

- Ability to work independently and in a team environment

- Strong time management and organizational skills

- Understanding of cultural differences and sensitivity to diverse audiences

- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes

- Familiarity with mechanical terminology and concepts is a plus
