Sr BackEnd Developer/Tech Lead (NodeJS, GraphQL,Neo4j)

About The Role:

We're hiring a Senior Backend Developer for our client, an AI services company helping mid-market B2B companies in the US build smarter systems: AI advisory, automation and agents, and AI-powered development.

Location: Remote from LATAM

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Engineer who is comfortable modeling complex, connected data and exposing it through clean APIs. You'll design graph data models in Neo4j, build and maintain GraphQL APIs on top of them, and develop the data acquisition pipelines (web scraping and crawling) that feed those systems.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the design and implementation of a graph-based backend architecture, rebuilding the existing relational system using Neo4j.
• Design, build, and optimize graph data models in Neo4j, including schema design, indexing, and query performance tuning with Cypher
• Build and maintain GraphQL APIs (schema design, resolvers, pagination, auth, and performance)
• Develop robust web scraping pipelines that collect, clean, normalize, and load data from many sources at scale
• Handle real-world scraping challenges: dynamic/JS-rendered pages, rate limiting, proxies, retries, and changing site structures
• Build data ingestion and transformation workflows that keep the graph accurate and up to date
• Work closely with client stakeholders to turn business questions into data models and APIs
• Write clean, tested, well-documented code and contribute to technical decisions

What You Bring

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, mostly backend or data-focused
• Strong hands-on experience with Neo4j and Cypher in production environments
• Solid production experience with GraphQL (Apollo Server, Neo4j GraphQL Library, or similar)
• Proven web scraping experience with tools such as Playwright, Puppeteer, Scrapy, BeautifulSoup, or Selenium
• Proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript and/or Python
• Experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and data quality validation
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, and CI/CD
• Advanced English (B2+), written and spoken: you'll work directly with US clients
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote setup
