Our client, a leader in the hospitality and restaurant industry, is looking for an experienced Accountant to join their team in Edmonton. This position is required to be in their office daily. You will have a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices to support various financial tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preform month end closing procedures, including account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
• Maintain accounting systems, processes, and internal controls to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards
• Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports for management
• Prepare year-end working papers, coordinate with auditors, and provide necessary documentation
• Support corporate tax return preparation and ensure adherence to local and federal tax laws
• Ensure compliance with provincial and federal reporting requirements, filings, and payments, including GST/PST
• Assist the operations department with routine finance task's
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial processes and identify areas for improvement
• Conduct financial analysis, including trend, variance, sensitivity, and other ad-hoc modeling
• Provide guidance to accounting technicians and clerks in ensuring proper accounting treatment of transactions
• Manage special projects as assigned
  

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience
• CPA designation is a must have
• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (BCom) required
• Experience in the hospitality industry (restaurants, bars, hotels) is an asset
• Proficient in CaseWare, Microsoft Business Central and Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
