Senior Estimator
Job Description:
Lotus Group is thrilled to partner with our Alberta-based, full-service construction company, seeking a Senior Estimator to join their progressive team led by passion and innovation.

Seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator with expertise in civil, multifamily, residential, commercial, and municipal projects, including public infrastructure, this role is essential in driving the success of their projects by providing accurate cost estimates, evaluating project feasibility, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure competitive and profitable bidding. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, analytical skills, and strategic insight to manage estimating processes across various project types.
Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, multifamily, residential, commercial, and municipal construction projects, including public infrastructure.
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine scope and requirements.
Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners to obtain competitive pricing and accurate cost data.
Assess potential project risks and incorporate contingency measures into estimates.
Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare material, labor, and equipment cost estimates.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to refine estimates and ensure alignment with project goals.
Review and interpret bid documents, RFPs, and RFQs to ensure complete and accurate bid submissions.
Assist in value engineering efforts to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality.
Stay updated on market trends, cost fluctuations, and construction best practices.
Support contract negotiations by providing cost analysis and justifications.
Mentor junior estimators and support continuous improvement in the estimating process.
Role Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) considered an asset.
Minimum of 5-10 years of estimating experience in construction, with a strong focus on civil, multifamily, residential, commercial, and municipal projects.
Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
Proficiency in estimating software and Excel.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, contracts, and project specifications.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teams and clients.
Proven ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong negotiation skills and experience working with subcontractors and suppliers.
Knowledge of local, and provincial regulations related to construction projects.
