Calgary Business Development Manager

Lotus Group is proud to partner with our valued client, one of the largest 3PL warehouse service providers in Western Canada as they search for an experienced Business Development Manager to join their Alberta based team. Offering Logistics, warehousing and storage solutions, our client created a business founded on relationships, taking a client-first approach in everything they do. Managing some of the industrys most complex distribution requirements, our client creates custom solutions that reduces their customer costs while gaining efficiencies throughout the supply chain. The Business Development Manager will work closely with the customer service and operations team and will be responsible to identify, target, and deliver new business to meet the organizations objectives. As a member of the Business Development team and by effectively and efficiently managing priorities, the Business Development Manager will be a key contributor to the achievement of the business and the departments strategic plan and deliverables.
Role Responsibilities
Support the development and delivery of service area plans, strategies, policies, and processes that are aligned with the departments operational plans, drives business development, and maintains strong client relationships to meet the businesses strategic plan.
Lead the Companys sales efforts and deliver new business revenue to the various business units from within defined target market verticals; respond immediately to all incoming leads received from Company marketing efforts, be personally involved in requested quotes and in new RFP/RFQ invitations.
Proactively develop leads and pursue new business opportunities from targets within the local/regional markets and from well-known national companies; aggressively target business held by others in the region.
Ensure a good match between client expectation and Company capabilities and deliver creative service proposals to prospective clients, improving the sales close ratio; ensure all proposals follow a top line revenue rate structure strategy that allows the bottom line to meet the results expected in the financial plan.
Identify and review opportunities for growth (into market segments, industry verticals, or potential expansion of service capabilities) and develop and present business case proposals for consideration.
Work closely with the senior management team members, develop very strong relationships with clients and be the visible external face for the Companys sales and marketing agenda.
Liaise extensively with the VP Business Development, the BSD/IT group and with the General Managers and Operations Managers within the individual business units for successful onboarding of all new client accounts.
Prepare/submit all required reports on time and accurately, maintaining CRM as the key communication tool.
Be an advocate for continuous improvement and provide management recommendations for change.
Conduct quarterly account reviews with the senior management team and develop recommendations for strategic actions that will improve future results. Advise on market pricing trends and recommend tactics that will improve both quote success ratios and the company profitability.
Participate in management meetings and leadership meetings as requested.
Participate in the annual budget preparation process, for revenue and cost alignment.
Develop new business acquisition strategies and action plans, with the intent to achieve 10% annual growth.
Be creative and use diverse sales tactics to connect with key players in the marketplace. Network and leverage your sales ability using various communication types to achieve a global reach.
Meet with prospects, identify needs and conduct facility tours. Work with prospects on business details (involving the support team as required) and connect the dots on how we may be able to partner with them.
Follow existing clients and develop deeper penetrations within larger clients by leveraging existing contacts.
Attend and work trade shows to gather information and establish sales relationships.
Employ a CRM strategy with key targets, sharing client information with the rest of the management team.
Be an advocate for growth and continuous improvement, and use market intelligence to provide recommendations for diversification and future expansion.
Strives to continually enhance the quality and delivery of services through efficiencies and innovation.
Adhere to guidelines as set out in the organizations policies.
Remain in compliance with the Alberta Employment Standards Code, the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code, and participates in the Health and Safety program.

Role Requirements
Completion of post-secondary program in Business Administration, Communications, Economics, Marketing, Sales Management, or related field
Minimum of seven (7) years experience in business-to-business sales and a strong preference within 3PL warehousing.
A service focus with strengths in a broad range of business development, marketing strategies, market research, interpreting financial data, and interpersonal techniques and skills is required to achieve preferred outcomes.
Strong collaboration, relationship building, and verbal and written communication skills is required
proven ability to explain complex concepts clearly, gain input, and ensure mutual understanding of analytics and strategies.
Experience with social media and knowledge of sales principles, with the ability to deliver clear and concise presentations and reports to various stakeholders is required.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of tools and other databases and spreadsheet applications and the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality is essential.
Proven achievement of results through strength in sound decision-making, organization, and time management is key to success in the role.
Experience working with teams in multiple locations in a 3PL warehousing environment is considered an asset.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
