Lotus Group is excited to partner with our newest client in the Hospitality industry, seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Corporate Paralegal to join their team. Our client operates a diverse portfolio of restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores across multiple provinces in Canada. This role will provide essential support to the corporate office in various capacities, including conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with corporate governance matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be a meticulous and diligent individual with a passion for legal research and a drive to excel in a dynamic corporate environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research on various topics, including corporate law, employment law, Federal and Provincial job grants, and regulatory compliance.

  • Assist in the preparation and drafting of legal documents, such as contracts, agreements, and corporate filings.

  • Maintain and organize legal files and documents, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

  • Support the executive team in corporate governance matters, including the preparation of board meeting materials and minutes.

  • Coordinate with external legal counsel and other stakeholders as necessary.

  • Assist in the management of litigation matters, including document collection and review.

  • Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the companys operations.

  • Provide general administrative support to the executive team.

  • Responsible for application and administration for Federal and Provincial grant applications for all businesses.

Requirements

  • Diploma or certificate in Paralegal Studies or a related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a paralegal in a corporate or law firm setting.

  • Strong knowledge of legal principles and procedures, with a focus on corporate law.

  • Proficiency in conducting legal research using various online databases and resources.

  • Experience working with AGLC regulations and requirements is considered an asset.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of the Canadian legal system and regulations.

  • Experience working in the hospitality industry or a similar field is considered an asset.
