Job Description:
Lotus Group is proud to partner with a multi-discipline engineering firm to identify a passionate Human Resource Manager based out of their head office in Sherwood Park, AB.
The HR Manager will play a pivotal role in managing human resources functions, aligning HR strategies with business goals, and fostering a high-performance culture within a technically driven environment. The successful candidate will manage a small team and is well versed in a wide range of Human Resources functions including talent acquisition and retention, onboarding and offboarding, performance management and employee relations, compensation, benefits, training and development, and champion the use and integration of HRIS systems. This position requires a strong understanding of HR best practices within engineering, project management, and EPCM industries.
This individual will have a service-oriented mindset, is committed to excellence, embraces innovation, and is a trusted and collaborative advisor to the executive team and all staff. They take initiative, are a self-starter, and lead with integrity and ethics to build trust.
Role Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Masters or HR designation preferred).
- 5-10+ years of human resources experience, preferably in an engineering, EPCM, or technical consulting firm.
- Strong knowledge and proven application of employment laws, compensation structures, and workforce planning in Alberta. Knowledge of Ontario and other provincial legislation would be an asset.
- Demonstrated success in leading and building HR teams.
- Experience in talent acquisition for technical and project-based roles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and HR data analytics.
- Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Role Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Leadership & Workforce Planning
- Develop and implement HR strategies that align with business objectives.
- Partner with leadership and department heads to address workforce planning needs, including project-based staffing.
- Support organizational design and change management efforts.
Talent Acquisition & Retention
- Lead recruitment efforts for various roles including engineering, professional, and field.
- Partner with hiring managers and department heads to attract and retain top talent in a competitive market.
- Implement onboarding programs that enhance employee integration and engagement.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance issues.
- Develop and implement performance management systems, ensuring alignment with company and project goals.
- Participate in the annual performance process by providing guidance and advice to leaders and employees.
- Drive initiatives to improve employee engagement and job satisfaction.
Compensation, Benefits & Compliance
- Ensure competitive salary structures and benefits to attract and retain top talent.
- Maintain compliance with employment laws and industry regulations in various provinces.
- Ensure alignment of policies with corporate objectives and legal requirements.
- Administration of the group benefits and pension plan. Participate in group benefit renewals and monitor the pension and benefits programs.
Training & Development
- Develop tailored leadership and training programs and coordinate professional development initiatives, including certifications.
- Support career pathing and succession planning for key roles.
Team Management & Supervision
Provide guidance and leadership to the HR Coordinator and HSE professional with a focus on fostering a collaborative and engaging team dynamic. Motivate and support the professional growth of the team.
HR Analytics & Systems
- Utilize and report HR analytics to track workforce trends, optimize HR processes and support data-driven decision making.
- Manage and improve the customized HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and other technology.
Compensation: A comprehensive compensation plan will accompany the successful candidate. The annual base salary range is based on experience and qualifications.
