Controller
Job Description:
We are working with our Edmonton based client, seeking a Controller to lead the finance function. You'll build a more modern, efficient, and insightful approach to how they manage the numbers.
This role suits someone who takes pride in the fundamentals, solves problems, develops people, and looks for better ways to work. Success here means more than accurate financial statements. It means finance runs smoothly, and people trust the numbers. Closes are accurate and predictable. The audit runs on schedule. Budgets and forecasts give the team clear direction. Payroll, payments, filings, and remittances happen on time. Financial information helps the team make better decisions.
You'll own financial reporting, budgeting, audit, payroll, cash management, and controls. You'll also help our client put technology, automation, and AI to work across the finance function. You'll shape how finance operates, develop the people around you, and build processes that make them stronger as they grow.
The successful candidate will be excited to simplify processes, upgrade technology, and automate repetitive work. You'll have the trust and autonomy to own the finance function and keep improving it.
Role Responsibilities
Financial reporting and accounting: Own the integrity of the financial information, including month-end and year-end close, financial statements, reconciliations, and internal controls.
Budgeting and forecasting: Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, and financial analysis that gives the team clear, practical insight for better decisions.

Financial operations: Oversee day-to-day finance, including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, banking, cash management, and investments.
Technology and continuous improvement: Simplify processes and adopt automation, AI, and better financial reporting tools.
