Human Resources Manager

 Job Description:

Lotus Group has partnered with a full service accounting firm that provides trusted accounting, tax, and advisory services, to help their clients succeed. They are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join their Edmonton office.

The HR Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all human resources functions for the organization, while providing leadership and oversight for payroll operations. This role ensures the accurate and timely administration of employee benefits, HR programs, and compliance with applicable federal and provincial employment standards and payroll legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources:

  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, employee changes, and offboarding.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees regarding HR policies, employee relations, performance management, and legislative requirements.
  • Coordinate employee leaves of absence, accommodations, disability management, and return-to-work programs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with applicable legislation and company policies.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Coordinate recruitment activities, including preparing employment offers and supporting the hiring process.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes within ADP.
  • Review onboarding documentation to ensure all required forms are complete and accurate prior to hire.
  • Ensure all employment documentation is maintained in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements.

Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the HR/Payroll Administrator to identify, communicate, and resolve payroll and HR matters..
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to the HR/Payroll Administrator.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, procedures, and system efficiencies.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment standards, payroll legislation, privacy requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Prepare HR and payroll reports for leadership as required.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and ensure accurate recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Monitor legislative changes and recommend updates to policies and payroll practices as required.

Payroll Administration:

  • Oversight of the payroll process, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time.
  • Provide payroll support and backup coverage as required.

Benefits Administration:

  • Administer employee group benefits programs, including new employee enrollments, benefit changes, terminations, payroll deductions, taxable benefit calculations, billing verification, and ongoing plan maintenance.
  • Maintain employee benefit enrollments in ADP and update carrier benefit portals as required.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and ensure the accuracy of employee and employer contributions.
  • Complete monthly benefit reviews and balancing to ensure payroll and benefit records remain accurate.
  • Act as the primary contact for employee benefit inquiries and liaise with benefit providers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate benefit records and ensure compliance with company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • CPHR designation, or an equivalent designation is considered an asset.
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is considered as asset.
  • Minimum five years of progressive experience in human resources and payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of Employment Standards, and Canadian payroll legislation.
  • Experience using HRIS and accounting systems.
