About the Role

This is Loop's first dedicated legal hire and an important step in building the legal function. You will work directly with the Chief of Staff, own day-to-day legal execution, and build the templates, playbooks and SOPs that protect the company as it scales. We are looking for someone who wants to build with the team over the long term and retain ownership of the systems they create. agreements.
  • Merchant negotiations. Lead issue-based calls with merchants and their counsel, understand the commercial concern, explain
Loop's position and agree workable fallbacks.
  • Contract standards. Maintain templates and clause positions for legal or regulatory changes; periodically redesign the contract suite to remove inconsistencies, reflect negotiation history and improve clarity.
  • Privacy and data. Support compliance with the EU GDPR, UK GDPR and applicable US state privacy laws; align the MSA, DPA, privacy notices, and incident obligations.
  • Product and consumer rules. Assess cookie and tracking requirements, API and data-access terms, and subscription, auto-renewal and cancellation rules across relevant markets; translate findings into product and contract actions.
  • Security and assurance. Partner with Engineering, Security and Operations on PCI DSS responsibilities, SOC 2 readiness, customer security reviews and the legal evidence needed for audits.
  • IP employment and general advisory. Support IP protection and licensing, HR policies, employment and consultant documents, and routine business contract reviews.
  • Legal operations and risk discovery. Create intake, approval, escalation, repository and obligation-tracking SOPs. Proactively identify legal risks that the business has not yet considered, rank them and drive practical mitigation with internal teams or external counsel.

Ideal Profile

  • Law degree from a recognized institution and 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on commercial contract drafting and negotiation experience; SaaS, technology or in-house exposure is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to research unfamiliar multi-jurisdictional questions, separate legal requirements from business preferences and give a clear recommendation.
  • Comfort speaking directly with merchants, business teams and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong drafting discipline, attention to detail and judgment on when to accept, negotiate or escalate risk.
  • Ownership mindset
