Our client is one of the world’s largest FMCG-packaged food companies. They own and distribute over 30 iconic brands globally, specialising in snacks and sweets. They seek an experienced Supply Chain Director - Manufacturing / FMCG to oversee logistics and supply chain operations. This role is ideal for an individual with strong leadership capabilities, a strategic mindset, and a passion for optimizing supply chain and logistics impact and processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring seamless execution of Australia-wide supply chain and logistics functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement logistics strategies aligned with long-term business goals.
- Assess and anticipate logistical challenges through scenario planning and implement structured solutions.
- Optimize transportation and warehouse operations to enhance efficiency and service quality while minimizing costs.
- Implement sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact.
- Monitor logistics performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) focusing on cost, delivery, and safety.
- Ensure effective inventory management, stock level accuracy, and documentation for materials and finished products.
- Maintain traceability of materials from inbound logistics to production and distribution.
- Plan and manage warehouse logistics, optimizing space and resource allocation.
- Lead projects aimed at enhancing warehouse operations, reducing waste, and improving environmental sustainability.
- Manage the supply chain budget, ensuring costs remain within planned forecasts.
- Oversee contract negotiations for logistics services in collaboration with procurement teams.
- Supervise budgeting, cost control, and financial forecasting for supply chain operations.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and compliance with industry standards.
- Oversee the integration of IT systems such as ERP and SAP to support logistics and operational processes.
- Maintain compliance with local and national logistics regulations and safety guidelines.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team focused on continuous improvement.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, problem-solving, and proactive decision-making.
- Play a key role in strategic discussions related to supply chain and plant operations.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Extensive experience in supply chain management, particularly within the Manufacturing/FMCG sector.
- Strong knowledge of logistics operations in industrial manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with Australian logistics regulations and supply chain standards.
- APICS certification (CPIM preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Proven leadership experience with a background in managing warehouse or manufacturing operations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Experience in implementing and managing safety programs within an industrial environment.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office; experience with SAP is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly between business units and plant locations.
