Our client is a leading Australian industrial design consultancy. They are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial operations and ensure robust financial health. The CFO will oversee financial reporting, forecasting, compliance, payroll, and cash flow management, playing a crucial role in optimising financial performance and business growth. This role requires expertise in multi-currency transactions, Australian tax laws, and ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Prepare and oversee Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports for management and external tax firms.
- Develop and maintain Cashflow Forecasts while understanding key cashflow variables.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts.
- Manage and monitor all Foreign Exchange (FX) transactions, ensuring optimal rates for transaction gains.
- Oversee job set-ups, invoicing, and Work-in-Progress tracking in project accounting.
- Review and monitor job-related timesheets and post corresponding COGS consumption journal entries.
- Prepare and analyze key financial reports, including Cashflow Statements, Sales Analysis, and Job Costing Profitability.
Payroll & Tax Compliance:
- Set up new employees in Keypay/QuickBooks Payroll and process weekly payroll efficiently.
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll disbursement while lodging weekly payroll to the ATO via Single Touch Payroll.
- Reconcile payroll entries within Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and ensure proper record-keeping.
- Manage quarterly superannuation processing and any applicable salary sacrifices.
- Oversee leave entitlements, including annual leave, sick leave, and long service leave.
- Ensure compliance with Australian tax regulations, including GST/BAS reporting and submissions to external tax firms.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable:
- Supervise purchase orders and invoices to ensure accurate financial entries.
- Conduct weekly/monthly reconciliation of the AP ledger before processing overdue payments.
- Manage AR functions, including invoicing and customer payment follow-ups, to maintain a healthy cash flow.
Fixed Assets & Compliance:
- Manage and track all Fixed Asset transactions and schedules.
- Oversee the Director’s Current Account transactions.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience (experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics Business Central experience is an added advantage).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of Australian Payroll processing and compliance.
- Knowledge of Australian tax laws, particularly GST.
- Experience in an assembly or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central/Navision.
- Professional accounting certification (CPA, CA, or equivalent) is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with Jet Reports and Power BI.
- Understanding of warehouse operations and logistics.
