Our client is a leading Tier 1 Global Transport & Logistics specialist seeking an experienced Senior Business Development Manager – Ocean Freight to drive revenue growth, expand market presence, and develop strategic partnerships. The role requires a results-driven leader with deep expertise in ocean freight sales, market analysis, and client relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement ocean freight business development strategies aligned with corporate financial objectives and global policies.
  • Drive revenue growth by identifying, pursuing, and securing profitable business opportunities within the ocean freight sector.
  • Conduct market research, feasibility studies, and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, key clients, and new trade lane opportunities.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing sales team, ensuring alignment with sales goals, customer acquisition targets, and retention strategies.
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with key clients, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Monitor revenue performance, pricing strategies, and profitability metrics to ensure sustained business growth.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, procurement, and finance, to enhance service offerings and optimize supply chain solutions.
  • Oversee contract negotiations, pricing agreements, and service-level agreements to drive competitive advantage.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes, global trade policies, and industry developments to ensure compliance and strategic agility.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance market positioning.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in ocean freight business development, sales, or trade lane management.
  • Strong expertise in New Business Development, Account Management, Trade Lane Development, and Cross-Selling.
  • Proven ability to manage high-value customer relationships and drive end-to-end sales cycles.
  • Advanced skills in Sales Negotiation, Stakeholder Management, CRM (Salesforce preferred), and Marketing Strategies.
  • Experience in Revenue Growth, Sales Forecasting, and Strategic Planning within the logistics and freight forwarding industry.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing and motivating sales teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and craft innovative solutions.
