Our client is a well-established engineering and technical services organisation supporting complex industrial and infrastructure environments across Australia. They are seeking an experienced Compliance and Safety Consultant to strengthen regulatory compliance, risk management and workplace safety across projects and operational sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist advice on workplace health, safety and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Conduct site audits, inspections and compliance reviews across operational environments.
  • Develop and maintain safety management systems, procedures and compliance frameworks.
  • Undertake risk assessments, hazard identification and control effectiveness reviews regularly.
  • Support incident investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective action implementation processes.
  • Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, standards and client requirements consistently.
  • Review contractor safety documentation, permits, SWMS and site compliance requirements.
  • Facilitate safety workshops, toolbox sessions and workforce awareness initiatives effectively.
  • Prepare compliance reports, audit findings and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Support projects with safety-in-design, commissioning and operational readiness requirements.
  • Track corrective actions, regulatory obligations and continuous improvement initiatives effectively.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, regulators and internal stakeholders on compliance matters.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness, response planning and business continuity requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across multidisciplinary project and operational teams.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety, Risk, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in WHS, compliance, safety advisory or consulting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, regulations and industry standards.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations independently.
  • Sound understanding of safety management systems and compliance assurance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and broader integrated management systems highly regarded.
  • Experience reviewing SWMS, permits, contractor documentation and high-risk work activities.
  • Strong analytical capability with practical risk identification and mitigation experience.
  • Excellent written communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills across organisations.
  • Ability to influence operational teams and senior stakeholders on safety matters.
  • Experience in industrial, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, logistics or engineering environments.
  • Strong attention to detail with a practical, solutions-focused consulting approach.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple client and project environments.
  • Flexibility to travel to project sites across NSW, Victoria and WA.
