Job Description :
Responsible for managing delivery drivers on a day-to-day basis which includes the orientation and ongoing training for delivery drivers and the development of corresponding training materials.
Runs routes on a needed basis (this is rare) for continuous customer service. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.
- Design and conduct driver training in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
- Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations (i.e., hours of service, pre-trip/post-trip, etc). Organize driver qualification files on a monthly basis. Review accident and injury reports.
- Manage delivery schedules, transportation and assigned employees such that customer needs are met while labor and transportation costs are within budgeted guidelines.
- Manage assets (equipment/inventory/people) for continual improvement of financial position, and operate the department within established budgetary guidelines.
- Serve customers in a friendly, timely and quality manner; ensure customers' questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
- Interact with vendors in a friendly, timely and quality manner; ensure vendors' questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- CDL A preferred
- High school diploma/GED or state approved equivalent
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
- Must be 21 years of age
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location
