About the job Mechanical Designer / Revit Modelling
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Designer with strong Revit modelling capabilities to join our Calgary office. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team working on a variety of new construction and renovation projects in commercial, residential, institutional, and mixed-use sectors.
You'll contribute to the design and documentation of mechanical HVAC and plumbing systems while mentoring junior staff and supporting project execution from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities

Work independently on assigned scopes with minimal supervision.

Take on increased leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and task delegation based on team members' experience.

Size and place HVAC and plumbing distribution systems and equipment in accordance with industry standards and internal design guidelines.

Perform load calculations using company-provided software.

Select mechanical equipment in coordination with suppliers and manufacturer representatives.

Prepare schematic designs, design development, and construction documents using AutoCAD or REVIT while following internal design and documentation standards.

Review personal work for errors prior to supervisory checks using review checklists and clash detection tools.

Assist with preparation of project specifications and documentation packages.

Coordinate mechanical designs with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.

Identify and communicate additional service needs and associated fees to project managers in a timely manner.

Assist with contract administration tasks, including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, and on-site visits.

Participate in client, consultant, and contractor design/construction meetings as needed.

Support project scheduling and budgeting in collaboration with project managers.

Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, on-time projects through continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
Experience & Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is an asset.

Professional accreditation such as CET, E.I.T., or P.Tech (Eng.) is strongly encouraged.

Experience in mechanical HVAC and plumbing design is beneficial.

Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, heating, cooling, air handlers, fire protection).

Ability to interpret and work from construction drawings.

Knowledge of applicable plumbing and building codes.

Familiarity with design and documentation standards.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and REVIT.
