Job Description
We are currently seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Designer for our Calgary office. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting and challenging commercial, healthcare, institutional, residential, and mixed-use high-rise projects. Responsibilities:

Work independently on specified scopes with minimal supervision.

Take on leadership responsibilities by providing coaching and delegating design tasks based on team members capabilities.

Mentor and supervise junior designers and review their work before submission to senior team members or project managers.

Place and size distribution systems and equipment in accordance with industry standards and internal design guidelines.

Perform load calculations using provided software tools.

Select mechanical equipment in coordination with suppliers and manufacturers representatives.

Prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents using AutoCAD or REVIT.

Review personal work for accuracy and completeness before supervisory review, using tools such as project review checklists and clash detection software.

Assist in preparing drawing and book specifications.

Coordinate mechanical systems and designs with other disciplines.

Identify and communicate needs for additional services and fees to project managers in a timely manner.

Assist with contract administration tasks, including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, and site inspections.

Attend design and construction meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors as needed.

Maintain project schedules and budgets in collaboration with the project manager.

Contribute to high-quality deliverables and adhere to project timelines by continually improving workflows and design practices.
Experience & Qualifications:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Professional Engineer accreditation (P.Eng. or PE) in the relevant jurisdiction.

Minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.

Experience in mechanical HVAC and plumbing design is an asset.

Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, heating, cooling, air handlers, fire protection).

Ability to interpret construction drawings accurately.

Familiarity with applicable plumbing and building codes.

Experience with internal design and documentation standards.

Understanding of heating and cooling load calculation principles.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and REVIT.
