Maintenance Supervisor (SW Ontario)

Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the development and execution of all maintenance activities, with a primary focus on leading the preventive maintenance plan. This role involves managing the maintenance of fixed equipment, implementing preventive, corrective, and extraordinary maintenance programs, overseeing capital projects, and ensuring the effective use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). The incumbent will supervise a team of skilled trades and ensure the safe and efficient operation of all plant equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

Occupational Health & Safety:

Champion the highest safety standards for the maintenance teams work environment

Implement sustainable safety measures to minimize high-risk situations

Ensure compliance with safety legislation and corporate guidelines

Quality & Service:

Ensure high-quality workmanship in daily maintenance activities

Maintain a customer service mindset by addressing internal stakeholders needs

Understand and mitigate potential risks to plant operations and customer service

Cost Control & Efficiency:

Balance cost minimization with maximizing plant availability and equipment efficiency

Supervise the economical sourcing of materials and services for maintenance activities

Leadership & Team Development:

Lead and coach the maintenance team to foster a high-performance environment

Provide technical direction and ensure the team meets maintenance performance targets

Oversee training programs for the maintenance team, promoting professional growth

Preventive Maintenance:

Develop and implement the sites Preventive Maintenance Program

Establish maintenance targets based on field inputs, performance audits, and failure investigations

Manage the master maintenance schedule and ensure timely implementation in the CMMS

Corrective Maintenance:

Apply engineering principles to resolve equipment failures and performance issues

Recommend improvements based on analysis of equipment breakdowns and maintenance data

Maintenance System & Spare Parts Management:

Implement a comprehensive maintenance master data system for better decision-making

Collaborate with procurement to improve materials management, including spare parts and inventory control

Maintenance Reviews & Planning:

Lead regular maintenance audits and sustainability reviews for the site

Prepare the annual budget and develop a 5-year maintenance plan

Create and execute shutdown maintenance plans

Engineering Support:

Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure project requirements are met

Provide cost-effective and efficient solutions for maintenance-related engineering projects

Other Responsibilities:

Ensure continuous improvement of maintenance processes and systems

Act as the liaison for maintenance activities with all levels of staff

Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Technologist certification is an asset

Proven experience in managing large maintenance projects and leading skilled trades teams

Extensive knowledge of maintenance principles and procedures

Experience in working in industrial environments with exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

High proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS software

Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and a positive team attitude

Proven leadership skills with a focus on proactive and participative leadership
