Role Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Special Inspector to join their team in central Oahu. In this role, you will perform field inspections and testing to verify that construction work complies with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings and specifications to ensure all field activities meet design and regulatory standards.
- Document daily observations, test outcomes, and site activities in clear, concise field reports.
- Oversee onsite operations to verify adherence to project guidelines and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with client personnel, including supervisors, foremen, project managers, and engineers, to address inspection-related matters.
- Conduct inspections outdoors under various weather conditions, maintaining safety and accuracy.
- Perform geotechnical evaluations.
Required:
- 3+ years of field inspection experience on commercial or infrastructure projects
- Strong working knowledge of IBC, ACI, ASTM, and AWS standards
- Excellent report-writing ability and strong attention to detail
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- At least one of the following certifications must be met for this position: PCI Quality Control Technician/Inspector Level II Certificate, ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector Certificate, ICC Prestressed Special Inspector Certificate, and/or ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector Certificate
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related technical field)
- OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training
- Experience with digital inspection reporting platforms
