We are seeking Electrical Superintendents for deep drilling onshore rigs for our client in Kuwait.

Position Overview: The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for leading and supervising all electrical maintenance activities across assigned onshore deep drilling rigs, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of rig electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all electrical maintenance activities on drilling rigs, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure reliable operation of rig power generation, distribution systems, and drilling electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and control system failures in a timely manner.
  • Oversee maintenance of SCR/AC drive systems, VFDs, MCCs, PLCs, and rig instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure proper functioning of critical equipment such as top drives, drawworks, mud pumps, and auxiliary systems.
  • Plan and execute electrical maintenance schedules in coordination with rig and maintenance management.
  • Monitor equipment performance and ensure high standards of reliability and operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with OEM guidelines, maintenance procedures, and company technical standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS or other maintenance tracking systems.
  • Manage electrical spare parts usage and support inventory control processes.

HSE Responsibilities

  • Enforce strict adherence to electrical safety standards and company HSE policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and isolation procedures.
  • Conduct and participate in risk assessments and toolbox talks.
  • Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all rig electrical operations.

Leadership & Coordination

  • Supervise and mentor rig electricians and junior electrical staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to improve workforce competency.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical, Drilling, and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support mobilization, commissioning, and startup of rigs when required.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Candidates from Canada, United States, Europe, Eastern Europe, Australia, China are preferred.
  • Experience of 8+ years in oil & gas drilling with 3–5 years in a supervisory role on onshore drilling rigs.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SCR/AC drilling rigs in deep drilling operations.
  • GCC/Middle East experience is highly preferred.
