Alternative Data Research Engineer

Description:

The role involves creating alternative data from diverse sources, such as data vendors, online content, PDFs, and other unstructured sources, transforming them into data products that produce quantitatively measurable market insights. The successful candidate will ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through sophisticated processing techniques. This position requires a deep understanding of structuring unstructured data, data manipulation for investment purposes, entity resolution, mapping (ticker tagging), panel stabilization, and debiasing.

Skills:

• Years of experience: all levels.
• Proven track record of building or enhancing alternative datasets.
• Hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas: entity resolution, mapping,
• feature engineering, or parsing unstructured data for quantitative analysis.
• Strong proficiency in handling large datasets using Python and SQL.
• Advanced degree in science, finance, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
• Experience in a systematic, buy-side environment or with data vendors serving such firms.
• Experience with NLP and ML/LLM is a plus.
