Our client is a service company providing services to the OIL & GAS Industry in both Mauritania and the wider Bulge region with various areas of expertise: provision of equipment and products, vessels and marine services, customs clearance and freight handling, management of supply bases, provision of pumped liquid mud, and waste management & disposal.

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

The Waste Manager will take on the responsibility of overseeing all waste management aspects. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in waste management, with a thorough understanding of waste segregation, recycling technologies, hazardous material handling, and waste disposal regulations specific to the oil and gas industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Waste Management Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive waste management plans tailored to the oilfield services operations. Ensure adherence to local, national, and international waste disposal regulations.

Waste Segregation and Disposal: Supervise waste segregation procedures, categorizing and safely disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated during drilling, production, and other oilfield activities.

Waste Reduction and Recycling: Identify opportunities for waste reduction and implement recycling initiatives to minimize the environmental impact of waste generated.

Hazardous Material Handling: Safely manage the handling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials, adhering to strict safety protocols and industry best practices.

Supplier Management: Collaborate with waste management service providers to ensure cost-effective and efficient waste disposal services are provided.

Environmental Impact Assessment: Regularly assess the environmental impact of waste management practices and recommend improvements as needed.

Budget Management: Monitor waste management expenditures and develop budgets for waste-related activities. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising environmental integrity.

Training and Education: Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff, raising awareness about waste management best practices and the importance of environmental responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Proven experience in waste management within the oil and gas industry, with a focus on the technical aspects.

Fluency in French and English, with excellent communication skills in both languages.

In-depth knowledge of waste management regulations, environmental policies, and best practices in the oilfield services sector.

Proficiency in waste segregation, recycling technologies, and hazardous material handling.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to propose effective waste management solutions.

PREFERED SKILLS:

Previous experience working in French-speaking regions or with French-speaking clients

Familiarity with waste management software and tools.

Understanding of various waste treatment technologies specific to the oil and gas industry.
